All-Natural DIY Deodorant

Nobody likes to smell. I don't like to smell bad. Especially in the summer. And if you're anything like me, you sweat. Alot.

When I was a teenager, I bought the strongest deodorant available (that was long before clinical strength came around). I was deathly afraid of someone saying, eww you stink! As I approached my twenties and began studying health and more natural ways to care for my body, I realized it was not just the food that mattered that you put into your body, but also the things we put on our skin. After all, it is our largest organ.

The ingredients aluminum, propylene glycol, and parabens are all hazardous to our delicate skin. Aluminum is linked to an increased risk of breast cancer in women as well as linked to Alzheimer's Disease. The aluminum found in antiperspirants is used to help block your pores from sweating. When you study how your body functions and releases toxins, you'll learn that toxins are excreted from our sweat and urine. When our bodies aren't able to release toxins, they cause a buildup in our body and in our liver, causing a host of dis-eases.

Propylene glycol is found in almost all skin care products, even the foods we eat. Just look at the ingredient list. This toxic petroleum based product has been found to be harmful to your central nervous system, liver and heart.

Parabens are basically hormone disruptors that interrupt your body's endocrine system-your thyroid, ovaries, and hypothalamus. Parabens have also been linked to an increased risk of cancer.

After trying natural deodorants, and I mean, I've tried them all from-Kiss My Face to the crystal deodorants, nothing got rid of the smell. I was frustrated.

One Sunday afternoon, I was surfing Pinterest looking for a recipe for deodorant and came across this lovely blog. I made the deodorant that very day and have been using it ever since. (about 6 months). I will never go back to buying another deodorant. Not only is this deodorant super inexpensive, but it lasts forever and it works so well! I do sweat still, but that is a healthy thing and I don't smell gross.

Here is the recipe. You will love it!

Be Well,

Steph
